1.Historical background and purpose of the prophet:
According to the book of Nelson's, the events described in Esther occurred between 483-473BC. It provides the only biblical portrait of the vast majority of Jews who chose to remain in Persia rather than return to Palestine. This book may be divided into two main sections:the threat to the Jews(chs.1-4) and the triumph of the Jews(chs.5-10). And, even the word for 'God' is not found in the text, we can find God's providential protection of His people.

When Esther went in to see the king to save Jews, it was against the law,and she might die.(4:16) But, on the contrary, the king welcomed her and appointed he will give anything she requests.(5:2-3) So, Esther could save Jews and kill a lot of Jews' enemies.(9:16) Here we can find God uses the people and turn the impossible to be possible. Only He can be a shield and strength when we are faced with a matter of life or death.

Like Mordecai and Esther, I have to be bold with the mindset of "If I must die, I must die."(4:16)
