Micah

1.Historical background and purpose of the prophet:

The first verse indicates that Micah prophesied in the days of Jotham(739-731BC),Ahaz(731-715BC) andd Hezekiah(715-686BC),kings of Judah. During the ministry of Micah, the kingdom of Israel continued to crumble inwardly and outwardly until its collapse in 722BC. So,the prophet highlighted the corruption of the political and religious leaders of Judah. And, he gave warning about the judgement of God, and recommended to look to the Lord for help, and said then God will hear and save us.(7:4,7)

2.What does this book show about the Character and Nature of God?

In the verse of 7:18, we can find God's character. He pardons the guilt of us overlooking the sins of us. He is delight in showing unfailing love. And, he requires of us to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.(6:8)

3.What does this book show you about God's redemptive plan for mankind?

In 5:2, we can find a prophecy about Jesus' birth in Bethlehem.

4.Personal application:

I am sinner, for whose sins, even big money can not be enough. But, God said to us as "I will do mighty miracles for you, like those I did when I rescued you from slavery in Egypt"(7:15). Yes, it's a miracle that I could be saved from my sins. And, I was given from Mighty God. How can I stop thank to God for this?

5.Point of Passion Assignment

I want to help nonbelievers understand why they are sinners, and how they can get free.  But, many people think they are not sinners, they are good enough compare to the evil people. So, the only way I can make them understand about the sin is to let them find something difference in my face and behavior. I have to let them find joy in me, which they have never experienced. Then they may can understand or guess what the freedom of sins is.   -end-
